Vanya Moneva is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Bulgarian choral art. She is a conductor who has established herself with her unique style, musical aesthetics, and high professionalism. It is no coincidence that composer Prof. Krasimir Kyurkchiyski says about her: “Vanya Moneva is the Bulgarian Karajan in a dress”.
She works intensively with Bulgarian composers, challenging and inspiring them with her creative energy and deep knowledge in the field of choral conducting. Her artistic inclination towards Bulgarian folklore crystallized in 1994 with the creation of the female folk choir “Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria”, later renamed “Vanya Moneva Choir”. See more »
Ognian Vassilev is a graduate of the National Academy of Music with a Diploma in Choral Conducting from 1977. In addition, he has specialized in chamber music in Bayreuth, Germany, and in choral conducting technique in Albena, Bulgaria. He has worked as the artistic choir director for the Bulgarian Television and as a teacher of choral conducting at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv. Rada Slavinska is a Professor of Conducting at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, a corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a member of the Union of the Bulgarian Composers.
She is a graduate of the Plovdiv Music School, where she studied piano with Elena Staneva, and of the Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy (today’s Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev”), where she studied choral conducting with Krikor Chetinyan and orchestral conducting with Ivan Spassov. Rositsa Boyadzhieva-Valeva receives her first Masters degree from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (AMDFA) “Prof. Asen Diamandiev”, Plovdiv, in the class of Emanuil Didov. She specialized in flute at The National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” with Prof. Georgi Spasov. She attends master classes of András Adorján and Angelo Persichilli. She defended a doctorate in musicology titled “The duet flute-tuba: performance capabilities and repertoire”, with under the supervision of Prof. Elisaveta Valchinova-Chendova, PhD of Arts. She completed her studies in orchestral conducting in the New Bulgarian University in the class of Nayden Todorov, and has been leading the “Vasil Abrashev” brass band in Targovishte since 2020, with which sshe actively performs concerts. She has been invited as a guest conductor at The Sofia Sinfonietta, as well as from the brass bands in Dobrich, Yambol and Pernik. See more »
Valentina Georgieva, PhD is a conductor, a music pedagogue, a leader of children’s vocal groups, a president of the Association „Musical world-Balchik“, a creator and artistic director of the International choir festival „Chernomorski zvutsi“. She is an alumnus of „Prof. Asen Diamandiev“ Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, in Plovdiv; she specialized in choral conducting at „Prof. Pancho Vladigerov“ State Music Academy in Sofia and in 2013 she received a PhD at New Bulgarian University.
